In traveling from church to church speaking, I have noticed that comments about the church's pulpit have been a great way to gain the interest of the congregation. It is also a very quick and warm ice breaker. Pulpits have been of interest to me for as long as I've been in the ministry.

A pulpit is many things. It is utilitarian to the preacher, though its utility is questionable at times if it is too short, too tall, too small or too shaky.
