Preventative Maintenance Checklist


Air Filter
Check every two months. Replace when dirty or as part of a tune-up.

Antifreeze
Check weekly. Fill to 50/50 solution of water and antifreeze. Don’t remove cap if hot.

Battery
Check every oil change. Make sure cables are attached securely. Keep corrosion-free and filled with water.

Belts
Check every month. Replace worn belts. Tighten if 1/2 slack can be depressed between pulleys.

Brake Fluid
Check every month. Add approved type. Check for leaks. Don’t overfill.

Brake Inspection
Perform every 6,000 miles. Check front and rear brakes.

Engine Oil
Check every other fill-up. Change every 3,000 miles or three months and replace oil filter.

Exhaust and Emission
Watch underneath. Have emission checked once a year.

Hoses
Check every month. Tighten if 1/2 slack can be depressed between pulleys. Replace if worn.

Lights
Check before every use, including brake lights, signals and flashers. Keep clean. Keep spare bulbs and fuses.

Lubrication
Check every 3,000-7,500 miles.

Oil Filter
Check every 3,000 miles or three months. Replace oil filter with every oil change.

Power Steering Fluid
Check monthly. Add fluid and look for leaks in pump and hoses.

Shock Absorbers
Watch for oil seepage. Replace in pairs.

Tires
Check every month. Rotate at first 5,000 miles and every 7,500 miles afterwards. Check pressure weekly.

Transmission Fluid
Check every month. Check while engine is warm. Don’t overfill.

Washer Fluid
Keep full. Clean wiper blades with fluid. Watch freezing point.

Wiper Blades
Check every time you clean the windshield. Replace every year.
