January 2010 Editor's Letter


It’s a new year…and what are the goals you have for your church for 2010? For that matter, it’s a new decade…where do you want your church to be 10 years from now? And, how much has your church changed in the past decade?

A snapshot of your church sanctuary 10 years ago would most likely show the members of your congregation sitting in pews instead of theater seats…singing from hymnals instead of lyrics projected on a screen…listening to an organ instead of a praise band.

The editorial content of this magazine has changed dramatically in our nearly seven years of publication, constantly evolving to show the changing nature of the church and the products and services that exist to help you operate your facility and ministries effectively and efficiently.

Two of the most obvious changes in our articles have reflected the 1) increasing role of technology within the church, particularly with the emergence of social media, and 2) the emergence of focus on “green” facilities, as churches become more environmentally conscious. Both of these trends within the magazine are indicative of the world at large, not just churches.
