When Community West Church in Richmond, Virginia, made the decision to design and build a new space, they turned to John 1:14: “The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.” (The Message).
Community West Church didn’t want to create merely a space for people to get away from the world to worship, but instead to create a space that lived out the idea of community right in their neighborhood.
Ionic DeZign Studios (IONIC) was brought in to create a master plan that met those goals.
The design incorporated expansive space for people to gather in informal settings, while also creating a sanctuary that connects worshippers with the Creation around them.
The campus plan includes several indoor and outdoor gathering spaces to encourage members and guests to spend time on the grounds.
The sanctuary features large windows for natural lighting as well as connectivity to the beautiful natural surroundings of the site.
The firm provided full 3D conceptual rendering along with a fly-through video to help the leadership team and members visualize the future space.
IONIC considers these features a standard inclusion in any church’s masterplan package as they are vital for generating excitement and support for the project.
Community West Church and IONIC are excited at the construction to begin later in 2020.
