Village Christian Church
Minooka, Illinois

This 20,000-square-foot facility was designed to be a warm, inviting and multi-purpose space. The exterior features brick, cement board siding and trim, textured insulated metal wall panel, metal trims, stone, and a large volume of glass. There is a large, back-lit, rough sawn cedar cross adjacent to the entrance. A fully covered entrance canopy with rough sawn cedar trim frames the main entrance.

Just inside the main entrance is a large gathering area with tall open ceilings and clear story windows offering significant natural light. The gathering area is a great place for fellowship as it includes a café, couches, and bistro tables.

The multipurpose worship space will seat 500 people and features a secured AV room, green room, and plenty of storage. The main restrooms feature epoxy floors and wet walls for easy cleaning. A large youth room, which is bathed in natural light by large windows, can be divided by a panel fold door. A large children’s check-in area accommodates parents during busy times between services.

There are rooms for infant, toddler, and pre-k children with separate bathrooms for the toddler and pre-k rooms. An expansive themed large group room, which can hold 100 people, is served by its own set of restrooms.

The building also includes a large, open administrative space. The building is heated and cooled with seven rooftop package units ranging from 5 to 20 tons in cooling.

Site work includes 1,800 feet of water main, extending sanitary sewer from 1,100 feet away, a large detention pond including storm sewer piping/structures, and a 154-space parking lot with LED lighting.

Village Christian Church is a Cross-Centered story of Love, Grace, Passion and Perseverance. PBS Companies was honored to partner with VCC in the complete planning, design and construction of their new site and worship facility.

After spending time over a year or so together, beginning planning at what was thought to be where God wanted them to be, and then leadership wrestling with what God had in mind after doors were shut, God opened doors and showered HIS blessings.

Village Christian Church had previously worshiped in a temporary junior high school for 10 years of their existence as a ministry. God continued to bless them as they were creating community and bringing people to Christ. That period of 10 years opened doors to new relationships, vision and a dream, but also faced them with the reality that something needed to be done if they were to continue to grow.

With God’s hand on the wheel, combined with Village Christian Churches’ faithfulness and relentless passion for reaching the lost, a vision was determined for the direction the ministry wanted to go in.

God brought them to the “piece” where HE wanted Village Christian to establish their tangible roots, and, of course, in His perfect timing.

VCC leadership and PBS worked closely together to define a master plan, including a functional, aesthetically pleasing worship and educational facility for their first phase, within ministry budget.

They worked hard to design and build a new ministry tool for the Kingdom while remaining cognizant of the importance of being good stewards through planning in order to retain their ability to serve.

Village Christian Church continues to be a great example of Stewardship, Perseverance, Generosity, Passion and Faithfulness in ministry.
