Brindley Construction embarked on an extensive refurbishment, restoration and reconstruction of this 8,810-square-foot, wood-framed house of worship pre-dating the Civil War.

Early on, Brindley helped guide church elders through multiple design iterations to find ways to affordably address each area of need.

The focal point of the church’s interior transformation is its sanctuary. The Brindley Team removed the worship area’s suspended ceiling and replaced it with a vaulted ceiling to provide a more modern, aesthetic appeal.

Numerous walls were relocated to repurpose office spaces, add bathrooms and open up the church lobby. Existing spaces were altered to incorporate a nursery and additional offices.

All of the church’s windows were replaced with double-plane glass, including the stained glass in the sanctuary.

Renovations over the years had turned the building’s exterior into a mishmash of colors and textures with no uniformity, beginning with repairs to a fire in the 1930s.

Later, the addition of classrooms added yet another brick color.

Ultimately, there were three different brick colors on the building’s exterior.

Brindley engineered an affordable solution by convincing church members to recoat the exterior masonry as a way to give the brick a more uniform appearance.

All new LED lighting, new electrical service and electrical control panels were installed, essentially rewiring the entire the church.

The project’s scope included significant mechanical updates, including the updating of the heating and cooling system with new units and duct work.

“The job superintendent demonstrated exceptional skill as he worked with far less than an ideal starting point on a job, requiring multiple decisions to be made ‘on the fly’ as unexpected situations arose during demolition,” notes Mark Hayes, a church elder. “He was successful in addressing each challenge and did so within the confines of a limited budget.”
