Increasing Church Membership with an All-Empowering Website
By: Farra Lanzer

Let's face it; the Internet has consumed our world as we know it. It has made things fast, easy, and convenient.  We use e-mail instead of phones, search engines instead of phone books, and social media to connect with people all over the world.

With today's tech-savvy generations, one way to ensure that you retain and secure new members is to have a great website that allows plenty of interaction.

With big search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo, more and more people are turning to the Internet to find a church they want to attend.  Whether they have just moved to a new town, or are looking to reconnect, most likely they will turn to the Internet.

Because of this ongoing trend, having a website that is easy to find, a breeze to navigate, and aesthetically appealing is crucial for growing church membership and giving your current members a new way to be involved and connected.

Today it is not good enough just to be on the Internet. You have to have a website that screams, "Pick me, pick me!"

So, how do you go about creating a great online presence?

For starters, you need a phenomenal website that current and potential members want to visit.  But, having a fantastic looking website is pretty pointless if it is not functional and doesn't allow people to interact.

Here are just a few ways to increase your church's online presence and get your members connected.

Video Sermon
The use of video is increasing in popularity. Big churches have been using videos for years, and, now, small and medium-sized churches can use video, too. Videos can be used a number of ways to allow members to interact with their church right from their own homes.

Video sermons are a great way for members to be able to connect with the church if they are unable to attend a service or just want to be able to listen to the sermon again. This can also offer the elderly who might not be able to come to church on a regular basis to still be involved in the service.

Daily Prayer
Videos can also be used to encourage members to visit the website daily. Pastors can have a daily video prayer that is uploaded to the website. Members can look forward to this daily video prayer and allow them to interact with the pastor and church on a daily basis.

The nice thing about videos is that you can do them as often as you would like and it takes little to no effort at all.

Member Chat
Another great tool for your church's Internet presence is the use of chats on your website. We are all busy, and sometimes find it hard to get to those bible study sessions on a weekly basis.

Your church's website can incorporate a monthly, weekly, or even daily bible study chat to allow members an alternate way of participating in Bible study.

Newsletter
E-newsletters are another great way to get involved with all of your church members on the Internet. E-newsletters allow you to effectively communicate with members more than once a week and deliver important news, tips, and announcements.

This can also effectively cut down on the use of paper. Instead of handing out flyers every week to every member with the recent news, now your members can choose to subscribe online and get all the information that they need.

As the list of creative ways to get your church on the Internet goes on and on, these are just a few of the ideas to get your church started on a path of tremendous growth.

Before you choose a website design company to design or redesign a new website for your church, do your research and explore multiple options. Look through portfolios and read client testimonials.

Insist on a free mockup and choose a company that has many talented staff on hand, not just a few. This will ensure that your site is developed efficiently and also that someone will always be there to speak with you and answer your questions.

So now the question is, what are you waiting for?

Get your church on the Internet now and see the power of a phenomenal, interactive website.
